Rimmel’s Wake Me Up Foundation - A Review

Hello Lovelies!

I have well and truly jumped onto this beauty bandwagon and I’m loving the ride! It is, of course, Rimmel’s Wake Me Up Foundation.

I have used this with the concealer as well, but then I purchased Collection 2000’s lasting perfection concealer and haven’t reached for the wake me up concealer again since; however it is in my handbag ready for any emergencies or top ups during the day so it’s not a total no.

I wouldn’t say that the foundation makes me feel any more awake than my previous ones, but I am fairly zombie-esque so I’m not sure that’s the foundations fault…

It does, however, do exactly what I wanted it too and that is make me look more awake. It leaves me skin looking dewy and awake without feeling sticky and tacky, but I haven’t actually been wearing any powder with it as I like my face to look as glowing as possible and I don’t think that it makes me look shiny at all.

I have pretty dry skin even after any moisturiser that I’ve tried, it may make a foundation easier to apply, but within around 2 hours my skin is looking dry and matte. This, however, keeps my skin looking moisturised and fresh until I get home at night.

I’ll be honest the first night that I got home from work I took all of my make up straight off as I felt uncomfortable, but considering I have just spent 2 months barely ever wearing any make up, I don’t think that this was the foundation’s fault either. But as I got used to wearing make up again, I have noticed that when I’ve looked in the mirror upon returning home, my face looks pretty much as it did when I left the house. For someone who works 10 hours a day and add an extra 2 onto that for travelling, I think that’s really impressive!

The colour will definitely be too light when I get back on the sunbeds (naughty Becky again) but for winter it’s perfect, I get too lethargic to tan during the winter and I’m really quite pale naturally so I find my face looks orange if I don’t change my shade. And, considering the very reasonable price tag of £8.99 (I bought it on a 3 for 2 in my local Tesco) it’s not going to break the bank if I have to purchase a darker version for the summer.

All in all, I’m extremely impressed. I am going to purchase Nars Sheer Glow, Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua and Laura Mercier Silk Crème Foundation as and when I can afford them as I like to have luxury foundations for days when I’m feeling naff or I’m going out somewhere special, but I’m certainly not in any huge hurry as this fits the bill perfectly for me!

If you have any thoughts on the concealer or the foundation please do let me know!

Love and kisses

Becky
