Summer Ball | My Perfect Outfit

Hello Lovelies,

So near where I live there is always a ball around September time and this year I am desperate to go, my Sister's gone a few times before and has said that it's a really fun night and I love any excuse to put on a floor length dress and get all fancied up! This dress from Ted Baker is to die for but it's from last season so have much longer it will be available for I don't know. I like how it's slightly different to a usual ball gown or maxi dress with the halter neck and think it'll be a definate show stopper.

These shoes are possibly slightly over-indulgent considering you wont see them under the dress but the strap will keep them in place and held on all night no matter how tiddly I get and the neutral colours will mean that they will go with many more outfits to come. As will the nude clutch bag.

The headband is something that is totally me, I love flowers in my hair and it's usually the one place that I'll actually put something that may make me look girly, but I think with a simple messy bun or with my hair down and lightly curled, this will look totally cute.

Love and kisses

Chanel Les 4 Ombres Eye Palette - Review

Hello Lovelies,

Today I've chosen to blog about a product that I've been in love with for about 10 months now, It is my go-to palette for both work and a more dramatic look and is so easy to use.

That palette is the Chanel Les 4 Ombres Quad, I have it in 34 Eclosion which has a beautiful combination of pinks, neutrals and a deep purple. I don't know if it's purely coincidence that my work wardrobe has become mainly black and purple and thus this matches perfectly or what, but it's super handy.

I often find with quads that one or two of the colours are perfect, but they either don't all go together, or I want to mix bewteen other palettes - not a problem if you've got time to trawl through your make up collection, but not ideal if you're in a hurry or can't be bothered with that fuss. I find that this quad is the only one that I can use the four colours together and not need another palette to intervene.

I can't remember the price of this as, as I said I bought it over 10 months ago, but I'm sure that it was fairly pricey (around the £30 mark) but I've still got plenty of use left, as you can see, and this is my most used eye product.

The colours are totally blendable and although you have to build up the purple if you want it to be really deep (or add a small about of water) that only makes it easier to create a softer look for work.

I am going to invest in more Chanel Quads based on my love for this one, so watch this space!

love and kisses

Benefit Brow Zings! - Review

Hello Lovelies,

A quick apology again for the delay, but I am back so I hope that you enjoy!

I wanted to come back with a product that's really changed my make-up look and confidence really, and although I've mixed my make-up bag a fair bit since I last blogged, I think that this product has had the biggest impact on my look.

That product is, Benefit's Brow Zings. For a long time I'd been using MUA's Pro Brow Ultimate Eyebrow Kit however recently realised that both colours are too warm for my face and my eyebrows were looking slightly ginger - not cool. So I set off meaning to buy one single matte eyeshadow that would do the job, maybe Mac's Charcoal Brown? However the woman on the Clarins counter pointed my firstly towards their rather expensive eyebrow palette, and then to this and I haven't looked back since!

I've gone for Medium as although sometimes my hair can be quite fair, I like a fairly strong brow and I'm naturally quite dark. This comes in a simple two step process, first the wax (that is slightly coloured) to poisition and shape your eyebrows, and then the powder to set it and fill them in.

It's £23.50 for this little kit, which made me gasp a little, but considering I've been using it for a month and not even made an indent on the powder, I can tell that it's going to last a very long time and I think that a product that I will use every single day is always worth investing in.

You get two little brushes, an angled and a flat one, and a mini pair of Tweezerman Tweezers and for once I think that the brushes are actually pretty good. It's only because they're so short that they're a bit fiddly, but for going on holiday, you could totally make do with just what this kit gives you.

I think that it's safe to say that my quest for a perfect eyebrow product has certainly halted for the time being due to this beauty, I'm sure that I'll look for alternatives just to mix it up eventually, but for now this does everything I want it to, looks perfect, stays on all day and is easy to remove, so why would I look elsewhere?

Back with a Bang!

Hello Lovelies!

First, of course, is an apology. I just looked at the last time I blogged and it was shockingly nearly a month ago (I know that I've done outfit posts but the main focus of this blog is beauty so I feel as though I've let you all down) I like to think that people enjoy reading my blog and if you feel as though I'd lost interest, I really haven't. Unfortunately things in life just get in the way and although I've still been testing new things out and loving my beauty collection, I've felt as though I haven't had the headspace to sit and write a good review or post for you to read. And I didn't want to post any old rubbish for your guys.

So, onwards and upwards! This is just a post to apologise and let you know that tonight I am sitting down and writing you some (hopefully) lovely things to read! You may have noticed that I've changed the name of this blog to 'Becka's Beauty Blog' do you prefer it? I think that it flows better!

I don't want this to be a long, morbid post so I'll leave it at this - I am very sorry I took such a sudden and long break, I've missed you all so much and I am most definatley back!

Love and kisses

Summer Wedding | My Pick

Hello Lovelies,

So as I mentioned a few weeks ago, my Cousin is due to get married in Bury St Edmonds Cathedral at the end of August so it's a pretty big deal. It's also the first member of my family to get married so everybody is really excited! As it's in the height of summer I have decided to embrace it and so all out girly and out of my comfort zone. I've found so many pretty floral dresses that it's going to be hard to wear anything else, but I have a dress in my wardrobe that I meant to wear for my birthday and that may have to make a cheeky appearance due to budgets - boo hoo.

I also want to go for a more blocked heel as at my Sister-In-Law's wedding last year I was constantly sinking into the grass in the photos and I just look really uncomfortable and awkward. As I've said in the past I also find them 100 times more comfortable for all day events. I also have one foot smaller than the other so this little strap actually means that I don't have to struggle all day trying to keep one foot in my shoe!

My Mum and sister are both wearing big hats as it's in a Cathedral but as I said in my Day at the Races post, I'm not comfortable with hats, especially not big ones, so think that I'm going to stick to a fascinator. I also quite want a clutch bag that has a shoulder strap on it so that it doesn't have to be constantly in my hand all day, otherwise it'll probably annoy me - I'll put it down and it'll be gone forever.

I'm definately going to keep it girly, with at least some colour in the dress and then keep it fairly nude for the rest of the outfit as I'm always conscious of being able to wear things again (little miss thrifty over here).

Love and kisses

Day to Night | Summer

Hello Lovelies,

What with my having weekends off now I find that I have had the task of finding outfits that last all day, luckily for me, I live right next door to my local pop so a quick change isn't too inconvenient if we're at home - but if not it's good to have an outfit that will last all day. The long sleeved top and  jeans are of course in preparation for a very British summer as it's rarely warm enough for shorts anymore, but the looseness of the shirt should keep me cool should we hit a warm spell.

I find that I can last all day in wedges, I don't know what it is about them that makes them so different to normal heels (maybe the fact that the weight is more evenly spread?) but I find that I can be out shopping all day and then still go for dinner at night and they wont start to hurt. I'm also not a fan of heels with jeans really and find that wedges look a lot nicer.

I love this clutch bag, too, I think that the colours make it totally versatile and wearable with a lot of different outfits but it's also big enough to be practical that you don't have to compromise on what to take out with you. I'm also not one for big necklaces yet as I'm easing myself into this "being a woman" thing so a simple necklace would suit me fine for this outfit.

A Day at the Races | My Perfect Outfit

Hello Lovelies,

In the not too distant future my cousin is having her hen-do at Newmarket Race Course and I think it's a Ladies Day so the dress code is pretty fancy! I usually really struggle with fancy as I'm not particularly girly when it comes to my shape and size (broad shoulders and muscular thighs are not elegant). However I've found these little lovelies that should help me to feel dressed for the occassion. As you can of course tell, it's all very pale pink, this is on purpose as I'll have to avoid colours too close to white for her wedding so I wanted to go all out! It'll also highlight any tan that I may have which I also love.

One tip that my Mum gave me was to wear wedges or a block heel, there's a lot of grass on a racecourse and too often do you see pictures in the newspaper of women looking completely elegant other than the fact that they're sinking into the gound - not a good look.

I was also told that I need to wear a hat, which I'm not too confident with as I'm only 20 and I don't know if hats are a little too old for me, but I did find this lovely fascinator on the Coast website that I think will fit the part, and I love wearing flowers in my hair when it's curled so that's my hairdo sorted!

Have you ever been to the races before? If so, please give me some tips as to whether this is acceptable as I'm so nervous!

love and kisses
