Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream - Not worth the hype?

First up, I have only used this the once, but never before have I been so desperate to get home and take off my make up and now I'm a little bit scared to use it again!

Greasy, heavy and uncomfortable, just three words that sum up how my skin felt all day. I put it on about half an hour before my make up as I kept touching my skin and it hasn't yet drunk it in and I wasn't confident in putting my make up on over a moisturiser that was still sat on the surface of my skin. However I ran out of time and in the end had to proceed with the rest of my make up only to wish that I'd taken it off first.

Admittedly my hands felt beautifully soft and so did my face that nice, but all done my face looked shiny and greasy no matter how much I powdered it. I didn't think that this would happen given my dry skin? I am, eventually, going to give this another try as it's not cheap and I'd hate to waste it, but this time as a night moisturiser and probably when I don't have to wear make up the next day, just to see how it works in that area.

I've heard such brilliant reviews about this - am I doing something wrong? Please someone let me know if I've got the wrong end of the stick with this as, as I said, it's not cheap and I don't want to have wasted my money and then be using the product incorrectly.

I'm really sorry, but I don't think that this is for me.

Love and kisses

  1. I have used this product for years and I find it so so good BUT I have never put it all over my face before because I thought it would be to greasy. I have really dry skin and often get patches of dryness so I usually just apply it to these patches and it literally rehydrates them within 24 hours! Really like the blog I followed you on bloglovin! xx

    1. Thanks for your comment :)
Maybe I was wrong to just slap it all over my face then! Eek! I'm going to try putting it on tonight as I won't wear make up tomorrow - do you think that's more the way to use it?
