MUA Ever After Matte Palette

MUA Ever After Matte Palette £4 - When will MUA cease to impress me and totally blow me away? never I hope. I am the world's biggest fan of matte eyeshadows, I always always always have a dewy base so something shimmery eyeshadows just look far too much. Yes occasionally a palette will have a few matte eyeshadows thrown in there for good measure but usually the range is extremely limited. This caught my eye when I was out on a recent shopping spree and I didn't even look at the price-tag before picking it up (although at a mere £4 that wasn't exactly a problem!) Does this remind anyone else of the much hailed and hard to find Lorac Pro Palette? As soon as I saw it I thought it resembled it so much it may be worthy of a dupe status! This is my new every-single-blooming-day palette. I cannot get enough of it, there's a colour in there that will match up to my eyebrows to fill those in as well as a huge array to take me from desk to dinner-date. MUA, you've only gone and done it again!

Avene Smoothing Hydrating Serum

Avene Smoothing Hydrating Serum £14.45* - Recently my beloved s5 purity serum all but ran out on me and I was a little bit lost as to what I'd replace it with, as if it were fate I was then contacted to try out the Smoothing Hydrating Serum from Avene and thought why not? I actually tend to use this morning and night as it soaks in really quickly so is actually a lot less "faff' than most serums I've tried but smoothing and hydrating is exactly what it does. The texture of my skin feels so much softer and more balanced and any dry bits are immediately banished. The reason I use this morning too is because it really does create a lovely smooth base for me to work from. I just massage a bit on before my moisturiser and whilst I'm getting ready and it sinks in super quick to do it's magic. What more could I ask for?

Area H20 Hard Water Shampoo & Conditioner

Area H20 Hard Water Shampoo & Conditioner £17.50* - Did you know that the type of water in your area can affect your hair? Nope? Me either! I actually won these in a twitter competition and after reading up on the science behind them, boy does it make sense. I live in a notoriously hard water area, I'm talking new kettle every 6 months (who has time to de-scale?) kind of hard water. Apparently this means that my hair gets different chemicals in it that can effect all aspects of it, shine, weight and it's general health. I'm not going to lie, I was dubious about using these as I wasn't sure whether or not they were a bit of a gimmick and I was worried that they'd put so much emphasis onto cancelling out my water type that other things may have been forgotten. Boy was I wrong. These actually like in my swim-bag and therefore are used once or twice a week on my hair, I figured this was when my hair would be getting most damage from the water and would need it the most. I washed my hair yesterday with these and still can't stop swishing it about like I'm the main character in black beauty. They really work, my hair no longer feels matted and weighed down, for the first time in a very very long time my hair feels light and weightless. Amazing. I cannot recommend these enough and whilst I still love my keratin shampoo for the weekends, I will 100% be repurchasing these for everyday use. You can check what type of water you have on their website here.

Makeover Monday #6

Have you seen any of these annoying photos popping up on your twitter, Facebook or Instagram? I'm sorry if it's annoying you but it's all in aid of my 6th Makeover Monday. After reading the amazing Laura's post about how far she's come I no longer had any reason not to sign up for the race for life. I've always wanted to do it but thought it was far too out of my comfort zone. However a mixture of the inspiration from Laura and the fact that we lost my Partner's dear Nannie to cancer earlier in the year made me throw caution to the wind and just bloody well sign up. I can learn how to run later.

Do you know what? I've not regretted it once. Admittedly every-day I ask my boyfriend if it'spossible for me to complete it but every day he reassures me that I'll get there. I've now got 7 weeks left to train.

If you want to view my page then please click here. And please, please, please do dig deep. You can text BCKA50 and £1, £2, £3, £10 however much you can spare to 70070 to make your donation. It's tragic that we all know someone who has been affected by the dreaded "c word" and if you don't then think yourself an extremely lucky individual. Every single penny counts and I'd love to smash my £100 target. If all of my bloglovin followers donated just £1 then I'd raise nearly £800, I know that won't happen but even a small portion of that would mean so much to me.

Every time I get another donation it spurs me on to keep going, to run that little long and to train that little bit harder.

I'm also donating all of the money that I get from my advertising from now until the race, and not only will all of that money for to Cancer Research, I'm going to double it. So that's a possible £51 more if you sign up for my advertising between now and June.

Have You Discovered...? Bronzer!

Hello and welcome to another instalment of the Have you Discovered? Project! If you'd like to know more or join in then click here to be a part of it! This week it's the turn of the Bronzers and I don't think that anyone will be surprised about what I've chosen...

HD Brows Bronzer £19.95 - If you're anything like me then you're probably thinking, HD Brows? Bronzer? Eh? I know, I was a tad confused when I first opened this too but hey ho, they've obviously branched out. I don't think that this actually has a shade name as on Beauty Bay you don't have an option to choose a colour and erm, I don't actually have the product on me to check *oops*. I got this in a beauty box last year and it was only when I moved my NARS Laguna to Lee's house that I dug it out, at the point of taking this photo I'd probably used it everyday for a good fews months and as you can see it's nowhere near touching pan. Fab lasting power. I also like that it has this clear plastic cover that goes over the actual bronzer, I hate it when you open the lid of a product and it all spills out everywhere. I think I actually instagrammed a photo on my Hula Bronzer doing this to me once. Mega annoying. It's not an orangey brown at all, however I personally would only use it for contour and not really for achieving a bronzed look, as it's slightly too "muddy" for me. You don't need much of the product to build up a good chiseled look as the payoff is fab and it lasts pretty much all day. I've personally switched to my Soap & Glory Solar Power as the colour is a little softer and more multi-use, but I well imagine that this will be dug out as my skin gets more tanned throughout the summer.

Mother's Day OOTD!

Mother's Day OOTD - Oh My Lumen I've done my third OOTD, it's only taken me three months... I'm getting happier with my weight now and that means that I can actually fit into some of my old clothes *hurrah* and therefore put together (in my opinion) some nice outfits. I don't often dress up nice as I'm usually in a rush or at the gym (sweaty lycra OOTD anyone?) so when I do I like to make an effort and this is what I wore when we went out for dinner for Mother's Day with my in-laws.

Jumper: Topshop
Skirt: New Look
Shoes: Clarks
Bag: DKNY

Eye of Horus Jewel Amethyst Pencil

Eye of Horus Jewel Amethyst Pencil £13* - I will be the first person to confess that I am not adventurous with colour on my eyes, christ I've only just started wearing lippy, my MAC pro-palette is filled with neutral colours with the odd dark purple thrown in when I was feeling wild. So when I was contacted to try the new Eye of Horus pencil I well and truly threw caution to the wind and opted for this beautiful purple. Officially named Jewel Amethyst it is just breath-taking, extremely vibrant and pigmented and so soft to apply. Admittedly I haven't gone the whole-hog just yet and it's mainly been used on my bottom lashes in the outer corner and then well and truly smudged out with the awesome blending sponge that is on the opposite end of the eyeliner. For £13 this lasts all day, I mean, see the world's smallest swatch up there? It was a bit of a bugger to get off, but a good eye make up removed should sort you right out. And I just cannot get over that colour, I haven't edited the swatch at all, it really is that vibrant and beautiful...

Clarins Colours of Brazil Summer Make-Up Collection

Clarins Colours of Brazil Summer Make-Up Collection from £18 - Well I am well and truly throwing caution to my blogging schedule this week and I can't think of a better reason that to bring you the new Summer collection from Clarins. Themed around Brazil (how fitting ready for the World Cup in Rio) they are bringing us their fabulous Colours of Brazil collection. All Limited Edition, I'll start from the top and work my way down. The Colour of Brazil Quartet & Eyeliner Palette (£32) holds possibly the most beautiful Royal Blue Eyeliner I've ever laid eyes on and three great summery neutrals with a pop of coral that will look super sexy with a tan. Not only does the Summer Bronzing Palette (£30) look beautiful with the collection's themed print, it's said to smell gorgeous too, getting us ready for basking in the sun before the rays have even touched our skin. Sweep this over your cheek bones for an instantly enviable glow. The Lip Balm Crayons (£18) come in 6 shades, here I've shown my favourites, mypink that reacts to the pH in your lips to create your own unique shade, and Sweet Cherry which looks like a beautiful yet subtle coral/red perfect for evenings in the setting sunshine. Last but by no means least, the Truly Waterproof Mascara (£21) promises to not only protect your Mascara from spoiling due to salt water or chlorine, but also nourish and condition your lashes at the same time - double whammy! I personally cannot wait to get my hands on some (if not all) of this collection, never has a Limited Edition Make-Up Collection made me so darn excited for Summer, or at least for May, when these beauties will all be released!

Skinade Competition!

skinade, skincare, collagen boost, win skinade

Have you heard of Skinade yet? It seems to be taking my twitter and instagram feed by storm with celebrities and bloggers alike all raving about it! It's essentially a drink with the theory behind it that it gives you better skin from within. I totally buy into it, for the pure fact that when I drink more water, my skin looks far better than when I'm dehydrated by plastering almost hundreds of pounds of make up onto it. I really do think that you have to work from the inside out and Skinade is exactly that. It has no artificial colours or ingredients (tick and tick) and it has less than 35 calories per bottle (double tick!).
The wonderful people over at Skinade are currently offering all of you guys the chance to win 30 days supply of Skinade products, that's an equivalent of £90, all that you have to do is click Here and fill in their survey to be in with your chance of winning! Good luck guys!

Makeover Monday #5

First of all I am so sorry that I missed last week's Makeover Monday and a fair few other posts as well. Next week's will explain why if you don't follow me on twitter. If you caught the last one that I did you'll have read that not only are things changing me outside of the blogosphere, things are changing within it too. I've been blogging for over a year now and feel as though it's high-time I ramped this thing up a gear and with that, I'm back on youtube. If you follow me on twitter then you'll have probably noticed this already but as it's part of the makeover that my blog is currently undertaking then I thought that it deserved it's very own blog post to announce it! Above is a link to my March Favourite's video as I wasn't too happy with my Nottingham Haul one. It's all such a huge new learning curve so hopefully you'll bear with me and eventually I'll get there. I've got a lot of big ideas!

Hi Guys,

The wonderful ladies over at Peppy Galore have kindly asked me to host a giveaway for them and I've been dying to share it with you ever since! It's to win one of their Fruit Punch Body Mousses which look absolutely divine. If you haven't heard of Peppy Galore before then they are a skincare company from Bristol who make skincare products from natural ingredients that are affordable, fun and again, natural. The founder, Jessi, believes that natural skincare doesn't have to mean boring and unscented products and with that has come up with Peppy Galore, natural products that still offer the same luxurious experience! Considering that Jessi started this off on her own I am super, super impressed by the vast range of products that they offer. There are cleansers, toners and of course body mousses! Please do check them out!

The giveaway will run from this morning on 11th April 2014 until next Thursday when they will pick the winner, I'll also be sure to announce it on here as soon as possible too! So whatta you waiting for? Get entering!

Nottingham Blogger Meet Goodie Bag

So yesterday when I was looking through what posts I had scheduled something strange caught my eye, a little "(1)" in my drafts box, I never write drafts, posts are kept in a notebook until they are written and then immediately scheduled. Low and behold it was my post on the #NottsBloggerMeet Goody Bag! Apologies to any who have been waiting for this and sorry that it's so late! We were so super lucky to have so many great brands contribute to our goody bags that they bags themselves actually broke because they were so heavy! If I haven't already then I will be reviewing each and every one of these items individually over the upcoming weeks so keep your eyes peeled for those too!

If you attended the meet up and have any posts or reviews about the products in the goody bags then do remember to send me the link and I'll pass them on for you!

Hairgen Revive Shampoo

Hairgen Revive Shampoo* £14.99 - I've made it no secret that throughout 2013 I suffered with my hair falling out, therefore I was delighted when I was sent the Hairgen Shampoo to try, I was also sent the spray (but the nozzle broke) and the mousse but I just didn't get on with those. The shampoo is said to stimulate hair growth and prevent hair loss through scientifically proven active ingredients. A bit vague but I had nothing to lose. My hair grew quite a lot last year and I wouldn't want to pin it all onto this product as there were a lot of other factors, but if definitely did grow. One area that I saw a huge improvement on and have since seen regress massively was my hair loss. It stopped falling out whenever I ran my fingers through my hair and generally felt stronger. The downside to this product is boy do you need a good conditioner afterwards. I never actually tried to dry my hair without conditioning it but it felt matted and dry, very clean, but very unconditioned. I haven't changed anything else since I stopped using this product so I do think that it was this that help my hair thinning. However I don't like the thought of having to use a product for the rest of my life, some lasting results would have been nice! Have you ever tried any hair loss products that worked long term? If so I'd love to hear about them!

Trevor Sorbie Frizz Free Shampoo & Conditioner

Trevor Sorbie Frizz Free Shampoo & Conditioner £5.40 each - Choosing a new shampoo & conditioner is always a bit of an ordeal for me, for some reason I will never buy the same product twice, even if it works really well. But then I'm always panicked by the decision of what to go for next. Frizz is a big problem of mine, even if my hair has been professionally cut and blow-dried the day before you can guarantee I'll wake up with a big bushy tail resembling some sort of woodland creature. John Frieda is normally my weapon of choice but as I said, I'd run out of that and something always stops me from repurchasing. So I gave this a go. I've not heard much about Trevor Sorbie in the blogosphere and that always worries me a tad, but I'm certain my Mum used to use it and she's always taken good care of her hair! Boots were having one of their infamous 3 for 2 offers so I really couldn't say no. Let's cut to the chase now, I love this stuff. Big time. The only reason that I haven't repurchased this is because I've won another brand in a competition and can't justify buying another set of shampoo & conditioner when I have one to use. It left my hair silky and smooth and although didn't cure the problem for my full 5 days in between washes (I wouldn't expect any product to). I could roughly blow dry this instead of sitting to do it "properly" for hours and still be left with sleek locks. It's not overly pricey either, there are cheaper products out there but not for this quality.

Makeover Monday #4

I know, I know, it's Tuesday and I'm only just doing my Makeover Monday post! In my defence, I didn't get chance to write it last night as I was in the gym until nearly 8pm and then just flaked out as soon as I got home. Sorry.

Anyway, As I previously said my body isn't the only thing that's (hopefully) getting a makeover, my blog is too. One thing that I've been contemplating for a while now has been advertising, I do it myself with other blogs and personally think it's worth every penny. My stats aren't the greatest out there so I do think that I've taken that into account when I've worked out my pricing. I put 110% into my blog and it's turned into my little baby that I just can't tear myself away from and I promise to apply the same dedication and effort to anyone who decides to advertise with me.

It's not been an easy decision, what if nobody wants to advertise with me? Won't that be embarrassing? Well that's as maybe but I'm willing to take the risk. I'm going to be running twitter competitions to win spots too so hopefully people will see the benefit and then invest the next month.

The bulk of the information that you need can be found here, but I just wanted to do a little blogpost to announce it all officially. Please do drop me a line on twitter or email if you want to know more info or more updated statistics or if you'd like something more tailor made.
