Top 5 MAC Lipsticks

MAC Lipsticks £15 - In the space of 1 whole month my entire MAC Collection has gone from a grand total of 1 to now 14. Whilst that might seem like a great acquisition, it has left me a little flabbergasted each day about which to wear. Too much choice you may say, so I thought that I would bring to you (and possibly myself) my top 5. From left to right we have, Speed Dial, Creme Cup, Lustering, Costa Chic and All Fired Up, a mixture of all different finishes and types but all beautiful in their own way. Speed Dial is a flirty and fun pink/nude that gives a definition of colour without being too bold and overpowering for a work situation. Creme Cup is my go to colour for a day in the office as it's a beautiful nude colour that works with every outfit. Lustering is a great colour for a day out with my other half, not too bold and shocking that he won't kiss me for fear of being imprinted on but definitely there and definitely pretty. Costa Chic is going to be my go-to for all of the shows and events we'll no doubt attend this year, it looks great with a tan really makes me feel summery. The only one that may not get too much wear for a little while is All Fired Up, my darkest and possibly most bold colour of the bunch and the only Matte offering that I currently own, for me it's a date night lipstick more suited to winter time, but still a firm favourite. I won't bore you with the things we all know about MAC lipsticks, their amazing wear, their ease to apply and their versatile colour offerings. I just wanted to let you know which ones are my favourites - and why I love them! Do you think I'm missing any?

John Frieda Go Curlier Heat-Activated Spray

John Frieda Go Curlier Heat-Activated Spray* £6.99 - I am one of John Frieda's biggest fans, if I'm ever unsure about my hair or I'm having a hard time with it, I will always turn to John Frieda without fail. He's never let me down yet, no matter what my hair catastrophe! I'm really into wearing my hair in loose natural curls these days as it looks so effortless yet classy and stylish at the same time, however I always find that they'll look fab the first day, but I'll wake up the next morning to something resembling an afro. That's where the Go Curlier Heat-Activated Spray comes in. It's a sort of long lasting hairspray that you apply when your hair is wet and it promises to keep your curls in place for 48 hours. It certainly helped, and with a bit of tweaking from my GHD's my hair was good to go for a second day. However the downfall of this product is that 1. you have to remember to apply it when your hair is wet before blowdrying, and I often don't make my hairstyle decisions that far ahead, and 2. it doesn't feel terribly nice when it's in your hair. It does feel a little bit sticky and stiff whereas I usually like to play with my hair during the day and have it feeling soft for at least 2 days apres-wash. I would definitely use this for a date night if I knew that I could wash my hair again fairly quickly as I just couldn't deal with my hair feeling icky!

L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes Mascara

L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes Mascara £10.99 - Does anyone else have that one beauty blogger who no matter what they recommend you always want to try it? For me it's Fleur De Force and when she said that she'd discovered a new favourite High Street Mascara I was straight to boots and had this within my grasp. I am quite fickle day to day with mascaras and I do like to swap them up on probably a weekly basis. However this does win the award for my favourite High Street offering hands down, it's got a comparable finish to my Clarins one from their Colours of Brazil range only its actually easier to get off. Nothing bugs me more than sitting for ages prizing mascara from my lashes. This gives me super volume and is so jet black that I only need one coat to make my lashes pop. I also naturally have really long eyelashes so anything lengthening can make them look like spiders legs, this gives me volume, lift and a teeny bit of length to create my perfect look. It doesn't clump together and I think that the plastic applicator makes for a more even application. If I had one niggle it's that the wand as a purposely weak point in it so you can wiggle it more, and I never really get on with that as I like a sturdy wand but that's purely personal preference and I always think, if that's my only niggle then I'm onto a winner!

Estee Lauder Take It Away

Estee Lauder Take It Away £22 - I am the laziest person ever when it comes to removing my make up, if there were an award for the most times someone to goes to bed in their make up, I'd win it. Therefore I'm always on the hunt for a nice makeup remover that acts quickly and leaves my skin feeling fab. When I was at an Estee Lauder counter recently the lady took my make up off and it instantly felt clean and refreshed, now I think I made a boo-boo when buying the Take It Away lotion as I'm 99% sure I actually had a mousse used on me. Anyway, whilst this works and my skin does feel super soft afterwards, it's not what I was looking for. It takes around 4 to 5, if not more, cotton pads before my entire face is removed and it just feels a little bit dry. Like I'm really scrubbing to get my makeup off and it just feels ... clogged? I like to feel fresh and clean after I've removed my make up but it almost feels like I'm using a moisturiser instead of a dedicated make up remover. I'm then desperate to use a Micellar Water or do a deep cleanse as I just don't feel as though it's done enough. I have now handed this to my Mum as whilst it's probably perfectly fine, it just didn't work for me. Sorry!

Neal & Wolf Super Shine Spray

Neal & Wolf Super Shine Spray £9.50 - I always look at other people's shiny hair and immediately get hair envy, as soft and healthy as mine gets, it never really shines unless I dye it darker and I'm done with my black hair days. Anything that gives me a helping hand to get a little extra shine is a winner to me and Neal & Wolf are one of my all time favourite haircare brands. When this appeared in a beauty box of mine a few months ago I was immediately drawn to it like a moth to a flame. Now whenever I'm going out or I'm wearing my hair down I give a few spritz's of this over the finished look and it immediately looks glossier and more healthy. I find that when my hair is blonde it's super hard to notice a shine myself but both my Mum and Lee commented that it looked good when I had this in. It's is a much more expensive version of my Schwarkopf Shine Tonic so I will now reserve it for special occasions. It's also sulphate free which makes it a slightly bigger winner in my book!

Top 5 Spring/Summer Lipsticks

L-R 1. Revlon Colourburst Lip Butter in "Juicy Papaya" 2. L'Oreal Stain Splash in "Marilyn" 3. Bourjois Rouge Edition Lipstick in "12 Rose Neon" 4. Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipstick in "Shocking Coral" 5. Revlon Colourburst Matte Balm in "245 Audacious"

For some reason the appearance of the sun and warmer weather instantly makes me want to wear a lighter base but up the amp on my lip colour. I become more confident and as such my lip colour becomes far bolder. These are my top 5 lipsticks and shades for Spring/Summer and I think that they pretty much cover all bases.

My Lipstick collection is all highstreet apart from my MAC ones and as I've got a "Top 5 Mac Lipsticks" post drafted away I decided to keep this strictly boots worthy. As you can see I'm a huge fan of pinks and corals, reds and purples don't sit so well on me, so maybe that's why I seem to wear more lip products in the summer than I do in the winter.

I think that with my choices above, you've really got all bases covered. For a light everyday look then the Glam Shine Stain Splash Lipstains from L'Oreal are perfect, they dry down to a light stain that just leaves a subtle hint of colour, perfect for work or a no-makeup makeup day. However if you're feeling a little more daring then Shocking Coral in the Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipsticks is the one for you. This was possibly one of my first ever lipsticks and it's still one of my favourites.

I personally cannot wait for more events to go to over the summer so that I can really make the most out of these favourites from my collection!

#Haveyoudiscovered...? Nail Product

Soigne Botanique Nail Polish £11 - if Soigne were to have brand ambassadors, then I would be top of the list. After receiving one in a beauty box in May, I swiftly expanded my collection to four within a month and it doesn't show any signs of stopping there. These are nail polishes like no other, SO opaque that I had to use Bold and Italic to emphasis it. Aside from the nude colour, you could totally get away with just one coat if you weren't too fussy and were in a rush, however two coats of this stuff and you are 100% bright, bold and ready to go. It lasts a good 3/4 days which on me is fantastic and I rarely remember to use a topcoat either. I haven't found them in any shops yet however you can get them direct from the Birchbox website, they should be launching any time now if I remember correctly? And when they do, boy will I be stocking up! Move over Ciate, there's a new kid on the block...

Clinique Colour Surge Soft Shimmer Palette

Clinique Colour Surge Soft Shimmer Palette - Does anyone else have items in their make up collection that you can't remember when you acquired them or how? They've just always been there and usually been pretty neglected. This Clinique Eyeshadow palette is one of those items for me but last year I dug it out for the first time and now it's a fairly regular appearance in my everyday make up routine. The colour are slightly softer than they've come up on the photos and not the most pigmented I've ever used, but they blend together beautifully to create the perfect amount of colour for a day at work. With a good primer they'll last all day too with minimal touching up (although I do tend to use the more neutral shades). It's also got everything that you could possibly need in an eyeshadow palette, with the lightest shade being perfect for the inner corner for that brightening touch, to the taupe shade for an all over the lid colour if you're in a rush, however if you have a little more time and are looking for a little bit more "oomph" that day, you can also use the berry and purple shades to create a little more drama. If I'm travelling then this palette is usually a winner for me as it's super small and sleek and still delivers time after time.

Tanatomicals Wash Off Bronzing Glitter Gel

Tanatomicals Wash Off Bronzing Glitter Gel - Here it goes with another negative review, look away now if you don't like them because I don't like this product. First up, the name, Girls who wear glitter do not look fitter. For one, I feel like it's a touch mean towards my paler ladies out there and secondly, who on earth wants to be glittery?! I'm not half human, half unicorn. I haven't really wanted glittery legs or arms since a Primary School Disco and even then I think my mum warned me against it! Tanatomicals as a brand are good, their names are quirky (even if I do find this one has crossed a line) and their products are for the most part quite good. But this was just all wrong for me. It has a hint of tan in it but it very much all about the glitter and the tan part itself is rather orange. I tried this over my readily fake tanned legs and had to wash it off before I went out. Yup stock up for your 11 year old daughters but please, this really isn't for me as a grown adult. I'm not a barbie doll and I don't want to look like hybrid with a fairy.

Ciate Mini Paint Palette

Ciate Mini Paint Palette £25 - The first step to getting over a Ciate Mini Paint Pot addiction is admitting that you have one, and I hold my hands up high and say that I most definitely do. I think I have well over 70 mini Ciate Nail Polishes in my collection but I still cannot stop myself from buying more. The colour range is fab and the fact that they do mini's just oozes me with excitement at both their cuteness and their practicality. Not only can I really test a colour out and then purchase the full sized one when I absolutely sure that I love it (something that I find really handy when the full sized versions are £12 a bottle) but I can also throw my Mini version into my handbag for mid-day top ups should I need them. Their latest Mini Paint Palette comes with a mixture of reds, pinks and a blue. It's quite possibly more of a winter palette but I purchased it late and have taken my time to write this post on it. As with most Ciate Collections you get a mix of colours and glitters and although they've doubled up a few that were in their Advent Calendar this year, there's a good amount of staples in there. I don't think that my addiction to the cute little mini's will stop here but I have managed to resist buying any more since this one, possibly due to the fact that I now have quite a few duplicates and want to build up my full sized collection a bit more. however these collections are perfect if you want to try before you buy (full sized anyway).

The Bluebeards Revenge...

The Bluebeards Revenge Shaving Solution & Cooling Moisturiser - Shit Panic, Father's Day was yesterday and you forgot and have no idea what to buy! Don't worry - I've got it. Sorry for the dramatic looking title, I got halfway through writing a proper one and thought that looked far too cool to pass up. Ever since becoming a beauty blogger my previously well groomed and perfect skinned boyfriend suddenly has dry cheeks, and oily forehead and clogged pores. I know, I know, I sound terrible and picky but it's true and whilst I don't love him any less or actually think that he looks any less handsome, I do always try and handily leave some of my products around in the hope that he'll use them himself. When one of my beautiful blogger friends offered me the chance to review these for Father's Day, I kindly explained that whilst I could offer that angle, I'd certainly get Lee to have a look and share his thoughts. He's only done a few wet shaves since then but usually he'd get a lot of little red bumps and an outbreak of itchy spots, however using the Shaving Solution soothed his skin and made the whole process a little more comfortable. I can also tell instantly if he's been using the moisturiser as his skin looks clearer, more balanced and a lot nicer. He's not so convinced but as long as his stubble is in place and his eyes haven't fallen out of his head, he wouldn't tell the difference anyway...

#Haveyoudiscovered? Hair Product!

Hask Keratin Protein Oil £1.99 - Ever since trying Keratin on my hair I've become a little obsessed with the stuff, anything with it listed in it's ingredients and I'm sold. It makes my hair feel soft, smooth and strong and I'm pretty sure that it helps it to grow faster too. I hadn't heard of Keratin as a product that was good for your hair until I was kindly gifted this in my goodybag from the East Midlands Meet Up last Autumn. Usually it's Argan Oil all of the way but I've just found that it's run it's course and doesn't really live up to the hype anymore. You can pick this stuff up from Primark for £1.99 and it also comes with a mask too that not only makes your hair feel great, but it smells it too! I'm starting to see more people talking about using Keratin Oil on their hair and now that I know what it is, I do tend to notice more products with it in the shops however it's still not quite getting the recognition that it deserves, hence it's place on my Have you Discovered post! If you'd like to join in, there's only one month left!

Dirty Looks Hair Extensions

Dirty Looks Hair Extensions* £99 - Hair Extensions are always something that I've toyed with but never really made the investment. I've had cheaper versions from eBay in the past and they've never usually lasted a whole night due to them just  being so darn uncomfortable. When I was offered the chance to try these I was a touch apprehensive at first because how can you ever choose the correct colour over the internet? And will I ever actually have time to use them? Firstly, they have a dedicated team to match up your colour from photos, however I would say to go with your gut and be honest if you think they may be going for the wrong colour, my hair looks so different from photo to photo and what arrived on my doorstep was far too light. However I did say that I'd be going lighter for the summer so it was possibly my fault, they are also way lighter than they've come up in the photos, but the colour match to their website is pretty good. They're so so easy to style too, which is a big thing for me as there's nothing worse than trying to curl your extensions and them falling out mid process. They look so natural and feel absolutely amazing. The main hairpiece is a quad weft too which means less clips and far less faff, something that will definitely make me reach for these more often.

June Birchbox

The Global Strikers June Birchbox - I've only recently resubscribed to Birchbox after a few disappointments and then a year away from all beauty boxes. The first few that I've received were fab and full of great new products. This month's arrived yesterday and I've already seen a few tweets to say that I'm not the only one who is a touch disappointed. It's all themed around Rio and the World Cup with a mixture of products from different countries. The Beauty Blender Sponge being from the USA, The Yves Rocher Lipstick is from France, OPI is of course Brazilian, Coola (a sunscreen) is again from the USA, Caudalie is French and then you get a little flip-flop key ring too. I love my Caudalie Divine Oil so to see that reappear made my day and the Yves Rocher Lipstick looks divine too. However I'm a little deflated with the rest of the box, and also that there are more than 3 countries in the world cup and 5 products however they only chose France, Brazil and the USA. I'll probably use the sunscreen at some point but I've seen other people get better products. I won't subscribe just off of this, but I am apprehensive for next month's box.

AVIENDO natural Anti-Pollution Face Cream & Serum

Aviendo Natural Anti-Pollution Face Cream & Serum - I was lucky enough to win these two beauties and a whole stash of samples in a twitter competition and at the time I had an abundance of products that needed using up so these were swiftly put into my sample drawer. When I was rummaging around to pack for my recent trip to Denmark, I came back across these and, although they didn't quite make the cut for the trip (purely due to size) I have been loving them since I got back. They are, after all, made by a Danish company. The Anti-Pollution part strangely spoke to me, as you may well know, I am a country girl through and through, Nottingham is my largest city and only in the last 2 years have I been comfortable travelling there on my own. Since getting into beauty blogging I've also become very aware of how the environment around you can effect your skin and beauty regime. I love the crisp, clean air that surrounds me here in the heart of rural Lincolnshire and therefore as soon as I book a trip to London, Birmingham or even Nottingham, I start thinking about all of the pollution that's going to be there. I can't tell you exactly how these products protect your skin from pollution, Aviendo themselves say "Ginseng and wheat extracts give you protection against daily exposure to air pollution." however my Science is too rusty to know whether that's true or not. All I know is that they make me feel better and teamed with a pore cleansing strip and a good face mask, these make me feel like I've really protected and cleaned my skin after a day in a busy city.

#Haveyoudiscovered Lipstick

Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipstick £7.19 - I know that Maybelline aren't the typical brand for the Have You Discovered project however I have never heard anyone else mention these lipsticks, I can't tell you exactly when they came out so that may be a factor but this is one of my all time favourites and it seems strange that no one else has ever raved about it. The colour that I have is "Shocking Coral" and it was the very first ever bright colour that I owned and wore, I can still remember the first time I wore it, on my cousin's hen party, and my sister was a little taken aback to see me in such a bold colour. For me, it gives a 100% confidence boost and compliments a tan like no other, it's vibrant and bright and the most beautiful coral colour that I just can't get enough of. Unfortunately I can't get away with a bold lip at work otherwise I think I might just wear this every day! I've been longing for summer to come back around so that I can pull this off again so it's now firmly at the top of my stash just waiting for a day out...

My June Advertiser!

Hey Guys!

So if you didn't know I now offer advertising on an ad hoc basis, it's off to a fairly slow start but then due to some major havoc in my life I've not really pushed it! This month the lovely Jaq has decided to be my advertiser, check out her blog below!

"Hi, I’m Jaq and I write LazyDaysBeauty.com – a blog about beauty, weight loss, books and loads of other stuff in between. I started blogging a couple of months ago when my Mum became ill and since then I’ve really got into my groove and post new content daily!

I try and write the kind of posts that I like to read so there are plenty of reviews of high street brands with some high end thrown in for good measure, hauls, monthly empties and favourites, beauty box contents and the occasional giveaway. I haven’t had any training in beauty or make up – I’m just a normal girl that spends too much money in Superdrug and has too many Advantage Card points to publicly reveal! I’m addicted to nude lips, can’t apply liquid eyeliner to save my life and if I ever find my holy grail foundation colour match it will be a miracle!

I feel so welcomed by the blogging and beauty community and I’d love it if you could check out my blog! Why not send me a cheeky tweet @lazydaysbeauty and let me know what you think!"

I hope that you enjoy her blog as much as I do, she's a lovely person too so definitely give her a follow on twitter too!
